sight glass

An in-line sight glass is great for viewing transfers from one kettle to another and also during recirculation of the wort runoff without having to stand on your toes to peek into the kettle. I also have another in-line sight glass installed in the system plumbing going to the fermenter to view the rate of oxygen being added to the wort to help feed the yeast during fermentation.

The in-line sight glass was designed and based on commercial units and then constructed using stainless steel, glass or plastic, and copper with internal rubber gaskets. Construction materials are FDA approved and have at least a 200F degree rating. One half inch copper fittings blend seamlessly into the system plumbing. Three quater inch fittings are used where the oxygenator is incorporated to provide more volume and then reduced back down to half inch. The viewable length of the sight glass is approx. 2" and the overall length is approx. 5".

Because of the interest of many home brewers, I have put togther a few sight glasses which do not incorporate an aeration stone. If you are interested in getting one for your system, post me a message using the message pad below left. If I get enough responce I will consider making a few more. I believe you will find the quality and the price reasonable compared to an all stainless steel sight glass.

Justin,

I got back to my office yesterday and received the two sight glasses. Wow! These are very impressive pieces. Their construction looks simple, yet involved and well thought-out.

After looking at these things, I definitely think I owe you some more money.
